In 2019 the number of such inhabitants reached 590,348 that became the highest rate for all history of maintaining the corresponding statistics by the Border service of Portugal (SEF) since 1976, writes an information portal.
"In 2019 the foreign population of Portugal increased by 22.9% in comparison with 2018 and made 590,348 people owning the residence permit. It is the record level registered by SEF since 1976", – it is said in the report of this department.
At the end of 2019 Brazilians (151,304) whom natives of Cape Verde (37,436), the British (34,358), Romanians (31,065), Ukrainians (29,718), Chinese (27,839), Italians (25,408), the French (23,125) and Angolans follow (22,691) remained the main foreign residents of Portugal.
According to the report of SEF, immigrants lodge mainly on the coast. At the same time 68.6% from them are registered in Lisbon, Farah or Setubal.
