France accelerates obtaining nationality for fighters against Сovid-19
The foreigners having the right to nationality can be naturalized in only two years.
Foreign physicians and other personnel which caused a stir in fight against COVID-19 can count on the accelerated consideration of the applications on obtaining the French citizenship, reports an information portal.
The instructions received this week from the Ministry of Internal Affairs order to regional officials to pay priority attention to requests for naturalization from foreigners who "actively participated in national efforts, showing dedication and courage", in fight against epidemic which claimed the lives of nearly 31,000 people in France.
In the circular signed Marlene Skyappa, responsible in the ministry for questions of nationality, it is said that the foreigners having the right to nationality can be naturalized in only two years of residence in France, instead of a usual minimum in five years, because of "essential services" which they rendered to the country. Workers of health care are separately mentioned in it.
"This recognition from France, necessary to pay tribute to exclusive commitment of those who did not regret either the efforts, or courage", – Marlene Skyappa wrote.
The pandemic became heartrending experience for the French, and after weakening of a quarantine the minister of trade of the country invited to arrive talented foreigners for an economic recovery.
