The Canadian-American consulting company by 50-year anniversary of the Earth Day studied the 50 most visited cities of the world to make the rating of the most green of them.
The cities estimated by nine criteria: a share of public green spaces, a share of need for energy from renewable sources, a share of the population using public transport on the way before work, the air pollution level, water consumption on the person, availability to foot walks, availability of city utilization, availability of a city system of composting, the number of the farmer markets.

The capital of Austria won the first place thanks to a set of public parks some of which were broken in the 19th century. Also the city is recognized "a reference point of public transport in Europe": nearly a half of the population has the annual ticket and uses it almost daily.
Munich which took the second place deserved an appreciation thanks to the modern transit transport system, including nedavny investments into the system of city electric trains. It is no wonder that the city can brag of one of the highest rates of purity of air in Europe.
