Portugal does not consider the application for "gold visas" till July 1
Validity period of certifying documents and the residence permit will prolong for four months.
The service for foreigners and borders of Portugal (SEF) declared that all offices will be closed from March 30 to July 1 in connection with measures for prevention of flash of COVID-19.
It also means that processing of applications for "gold visas" will be suspended and will renew in a chronological order since July 1, reports an information portal.
Portugal declared a state of emergency on March 18, 2020, in a week after WHO recognized COVID-19 a pandemic.
Portugal for the second time stops the program of issue of "gold visas". In July, 2015 the similar decision was made after the scandal connected with corruption in the government.
The order of March 27 also provides temporary closure of all branches SEF, considering need of risk reduction for health and security.
All visas and documents connected with stay of foreign citizens in the territory of Portugal whose validity period expired after February 24 are valid till June 30.
SEF will continue to render the personal help only with those requests which are considered as urgent. That is, citizens who need to make a trip will be served or to leave the country for the powerful reasons and also people who addressed concerning theft or loss of documents.
The neighboring Italy took similar step and also prolongs action of residence permits.
