3.5 times less Russians received Golden Visa of Spain
From January 1 to May 31, 2019 21 citizens of the Russian Federation became the owner of the residence permit for investments. And for the same period of 2020 only six Russians could brag of it.
As writes an information portal, for the first five months 2020 Spain issued less than a half of "gold visas" from a similar indicator of the same period of last year.
Since the beginning of year until the end of May the government was provided by 113 residence permit for investments to foreigners whereas during the same period of the 2019th this number equaled 285. Most of all this decrease affected Russians and Chinese. The number of the "gold visas" issued to Russians for the specified period was reduced from 21 to six. And the number of the provided similar documents to Chinese – with 180 to 65.
"Decrease generally is explained by restrictions for movements of the international investors because of koronavirusny crisis. We also believe that the significant role in this reduction was played by the fact that Spain rose by the leading positions in the world on influence of a pandemic", – the CEO of the consulting agency Mikel Echavarren says.
The secretary general of the state organization for promotion of construction in Spain (APCE) stated the idea which can stop outflow of the foreign capital from the sector of the real estate of Spain: "We suggested the government to cut by half the volume of investment into housing demanded for obtaining the residence permit to €250,000, from two to three years again to attract investments into our country".
