Investments in the Portuguese "gold visas" were reduced by 35%
In the first quarter 2020 for investments invested €120 million in the residence permit program.
In March, 2020 according to the program of "The gold visa" of Portugal approval was got by only 55 main applicants.
It is the lowest indicator since July, 2018 which, most likely, still will decrease in April.
These applications brought €28 million in treasury. Thus, for the first quarter of the 2020th the total amount of transactions was €120 million – 35% less, than in 2019, writes an information portal.
Experts lay the main blame on a coronavirus pandemic. In spite of the fact that the Immigration service did not close the offices up to March 30, logistic difficulties in the countries from where there come the main applicants, made impossible timely preparation of documents in February.
In March, 2020 the further growth of interest in alternative assets within the program was observed (not including purchase of the real estate). Still in 2020 one of seven types of the alternate investments was chosen by 28% of applicants (for example, creation of 10 jobs or restoration of cultural heritage).
Chinese were the most numerous applicants in March. They are followed by Iranians, Turks, Russians and Brazilians.
