According to National Institute of statistics of Spain (INE), 59,750 people registered in Madrid and Barcelona replaced a registration. It is the highest rate since 1998 when INE began to publish such data. Barcelona there left 21,510 inhabitants, and Madrid — 38,240.
The tendency to outflow of the population to less crowded places began in Spain in 2015. But COVID-19 considerably accelerated it. For comparison: in 2015 Madrid and Barcelona there left 31,000 Spaniards.
